Solving Structural Mechanics Problems by PVM and the Simplex Algorithm

Abstract:

A wide field of technical problems can be reduced to the solution of a nonlinear equation system. If the solution depends on a single parameter then the equation system has the following form: tex2html_wrap_inline160

In this paper we present an example from structural mechanics where this type of equation system has to be solved globally, i.e. we are interested in all possible solutions. We describe very briefly how the equations are constructed and how the Simplex Algorithm is applied. We emphasize the efficient PVM implementation of the algorithm.
